Education:

M.F.A. - Painting, 1980 Brooklyn College
B.S. - Photography/Art, 1977 Brooklyn College

Historically, Brooklyn College's close proximity to New York City almost always guaranteed it would draw diverse, world reknowned artists to the faculty. First established in 1942 with a Bauhaus ideology, the department expanded it's class offerings, faculty and guest speakers with such notables as: Ad Reinhardt, Burgoyne Diller, Gyorgy Kepes, Serge Ivan Chermayeff, Robert Jay Wolff, Harry Holtzman, Carl Holty, Ilya Bolotowsky, Stamo Papadaki, Jose de RIvera, Mark Rothko, Kurt Seligmann, Stanley William Hayter, Jimmy Ernst, Alexander Calder, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, John Cage, Alfred Russell, Milton W. Brown, Bernice Abbott, Louise Bourgeois, Gabriel Laderman, Lucas Samaras, Altoon Sultan. Rather impressive, though no doubt, I've left out names.

Because I did both my undergraduate and graduate work at Brooklyn College I had the great privilege of studying with some fantastic artists and educators.

Among those I had the opportunity to study and have dialogues with were the following artists:
Painters: Allan D'Arcangelo, Philip Pearlstein, Robert Henry, Lois Dodd, Lennart Anderson, Fred Badalamenti, Jimmy Ernst, Samuel Gelber, Lawrence Campbell, Joseph Groell, Paul Giangagna, William T. Williams, David Sawin, Murray Israel, Jan Hildebrand, Peter Phillipps
Photographers: Walter Rosenblum, Bernard Cole, Robert D'Allessandro, Jack Lessinger, Fredrich Cantor, Georgeen Comerford
Sculptors: Lee Bontecou, Ann Arnold, Sylvia Stone, Ronald Mehlman, Richard Navin

In 1979, the graduate program faculty awarded me the distinguished Charles G. Shaw Memorial Scholarship Award in Painting.
